James Oliver’s Ludicrous ‘Lude

What lies before your eyes right now is the 5th generation Honda Prelude. The Prelude is perhaps one of the most underrated vehicles in the entire H-Badge line. Yet, from the factory, a manual transmission, Type-SH Prelude came equipped with Honda’s H22A 2.2 liter straight 4, pumping out a respectable 200 horsepower and 159 lb/ft. torque. Now, if you’re like me, you might be thinking, “Wait a minute…don’t the 2006-2010 Civic Si’s come with 197HP and 139 lb/torque? It seems like Honda basically down graded, since the Prelude is at least 5 years older than the new civics”

Although there is truth to that, when new, Preludes were more expensive than civics, but now, you can buy a nice BB6 lude for under 10k. This gets one thinking; “Why don’t we see more awesome Preludes?” The Prelude has always seemed to live in the shadow of the Civic Si, however, today we bring before you a wild card, James Oliver’s custom green BB6 Prelude. His Prelude is an example of how simple is better, and how a little bit goes a long way with 5th gen ludes. Sure the “wedge” shape might not be for everyone, but in my opinion in is sleek and stylish. This is exactly what James Oliver saw in it as well, and not going with the ever popular civic route, he choose the 5th generation Honda Prelude.

Now some words from the man himself, James Oliver, about his Lude!

Well to start things off, The Lude has been my daily driver ever since 07, didn’t start modding it until late months of 2008. It had been in an accident once but it isn’t a bad accident just a lil fender bender, and thats when i got my custom green paint job. the work equips wheels is my 2nd set of wheels, the Lude used to have BBS RS but to make things short, it didn’t work out the way I wanted it to be, i was going to quit modding and thinking about selling the car when the BBS RS setup didn’t work, but my crew Style63 guys told me, everything is a trial and error when it comes to breaking the limits of a car. That BBS RS setup gave me a lot of knowledge about my car especially stance wise. Then the WORK equip wheels came, got it liquid painted and fully re-polished from inside out. Shout out to; carxhype, rj for the shoot, to you anthony, my mom, Style63, HornDogz, and to all my FAM.

Big thanks to James Oliver for the feature.
