Hey everyone, I’m not the most frequent poster here at CxH but I thought I’d take some time to make a Crew Rides post to share with you. I’ve been doing things here and there for Cars X Hype since 2011, I was graciously welcomed to the crew by Michael Klonoff. I’m located in Arizona and I drive around a couple of old cars, click through to see more!

1966 Mercedes Benz W108 250SE

Starting with my oldest, the W108. Not only is this my oldest car, it’s the car I’ve had the longest. I got it in August of 2010 and it became my daily driver to and from school for almost a year. Since then it’s become my secondary car, I don’t want to put too many miles on it if I don’t have to. Don’t worry though, it still gets driven regularly! If you’re interested in reading more about this car, I’d encourage you to check out the piece I did for Motoring con Brio about it some time ago, link HERE.

1987 BMW e28 535i

Next up is my (much) more recent acquisition (as I’m typing this I’ve only had it 6 days), my e28. Before this car I had an e30 BMW 325, a car that always left me wanting more power, space, and sportiness. The e28 is the perfect blend of practicality and performance. The 3.4 liter engine in this car may not be powerful by today’s standards (185hp when new) but it sure feels fast. In addition to that this car has an upgraded suspension, bringing it closer to the ground and keeping it flat through the corners making it a lot of fun to drive. Cosmetically this car has seen better days, the clear coat is flaking, and the previous owner’s attempt at shadowlining the all the chrome bits has proven to be a half ass effort as much of that has started to come off as well. I plan on bringing back many if not all of the chrome bits and possibly respraying it if I can get it done properly. Thankfully the car is sound mechanically, which for me is the most important thing.

Looking forward to a great 2013 with Cars X Hype!

  1. Otis,

Obviously, you know I love both cars. But the E28 will look absolutely tits with Euro bumpers and chrome kidneys. Enjoy them both in good health!

    Cheers,

    Drew

Hey Drew, I’ve looked at the kidneys and it looks like the PO painted them with a rattlecan so I should be able to get the paint off. I fully intend on bringing back most of the chrome that was originally on the car. As for euro bumpers… that’s money I don’t have right now haha.
