It seems people can’t get enough of Rocket Bunny these days and it’s not hard to see why. Their FRS kit has to be the best available bodykit for that car right now. As far as how this particular Rocket Bunny kitted FRS came to be, well it all started with a photo.
It was a photo of Kei Miura’s own car that inspired the owner of this car, James, to start building. “I saw a picture of Kei’s Rocket bunny frs rolling down the street it was unlike any other car/kit I had seen before and I couldn’t take my mind off of it, I just had to have my own!”
Getting the car itself was no easy task. James sold both of his SRT4’s only to be delivered the wrong car! Not only was the car the wrong color, but it had an automatic transmission. We can’t have that now can we?
After a month of waiting, James finally had the right car. The day he took delivery is the same day he put in his order for the Rocket Bunny kit which arrived a long 3 months later. In the mean time he started the modification process, starting with the suspension, wheels and tires, and other random interior bits.
Installing a kit like this isn’t as simple as some might think, some serious fender cuts (and cojones) are required. “It was a little nerve wracking cutting into the fender” James explains, “but after the first cut everything went very smoothly.”
In the future James plans to change out the seats and add a cage and harness. Further down the road he’ll be doing some engine work with the addition of a Vortech supercharger.
Special thanks to James Schwartz, Jerell Duffin and JDM Motosports, and to everyone who came out to the shoot, I had a great time.
