Supercar Saturdays.
Imagine seeing all of your dream cars in one place, getting to hear them rev, looking at them close up, its an incredible experience! This was the first time I was able to attend a Supercar Saturdays event and I can honestly say next year when they start up again I will do all in my power to be at every single event! I saw everything from a Bugatti Veyron to an absolutely gorgeous Toyota Cressida! Walking through the show I felt like a kid in a candy store, except each piece of candy’s value was a 6 digit number. I’ll let you have the same feeling, so enjoy some pictures I took from the show!
A Japanese Classic: 1985 Toyota Corolla.
The 1983-87 Toyota Corolla known as the AE86 is a true Japanese Classic. The car became popular for its overall curb weight of about 2300 lbs and easy to tune engine- the 4A-GEU. Being RWD and still having a curb weight of just 2300 lbs made it an idea car to take to the track; The AE86′s set-up made it an idea car to use for drifting and tracking. This AE86 is an excellent example of how absolutely stunning the car can look, it is fitted with a JDM Bloodline Body kit and it is sitting pretty on SSR Mk2′s. Luis, the owner is a true Corolla fan, he has owned a total of 9 Corolla’s from AE86′s to 3TC’s. He has owned this specific one for 8 years. it has been nicknamed the Silver Surfer by the Chicago Car Scene. His first car was a 1981 3TC and he has been a loyal Corolla owner ever since. This AE86 is powered by a 4age 20v silvertop with the Black Top ECU, harness and throttle bodies from a newer 20v engine. It is so simple, but so stunning at the same time. Thanks to Luis for giving me the opportunity to shoot his masterpiece!
714 Tires: A Shop You Can Trust
Perhaps one of the most important and overlooked parts of being a tuner is having access to a shop you can TRUST. Go to any local shop in your neighborhood with your slammed car and I guarantee you they will run for the hills. Most shops absolutely despise working on modified cars and some won’t even work on them at all. After leaving the shop, unserviced, shop owners will even talk trash on your car and the whole modified car scene all together. In a world where people like us are rejected by mainstream mechanics, it’s nice to come to a place where you and your car can feel at home.
Auto Mass Part 2- Car Show Coverage
You’ve seen some of the Street Drift cars from the Windy City and now for a sample of the rest of the car scene from the area. There were plenty of unique builds on display, there was even a Toyota Starlet there! Rather than just telling you what was there I will just let you see for yourself!
Automotive Detailing 101: The Microfiber Towel
It’s amazing sometimes what we can take for granted. It’s the simple things we forget about like hot water in our faucet system, a comfortable bed to sleep in at night, or for us car junkies the simple microfiber towel. Just think about it for a second would your car wash be the same without that fuzzy feeling microfiber towel in that lime green or baby blue color? We use it on everything from our dashboards to our body panels, windows, wheels, seats, and more. But have you ever wondered what is it that makes this towel just so amazing?
